The Exterminators.
The Exterminators (駆除係, Kujogakari) are white creatures similar to dolls. They work at the service of the Authorities. They appear for the first time in LOG.5.
Background[]
Exterminators are a subset of Safeguard that often appear as black and white humanoid machines. They use primitive weaponry, often their claws or melee weapons, though stronger versions are capable of energy attacks. There are many different versions of Exterminators, the most prominent being the Class One. It is capable of telekinesis, regeneration, and beam attacks.
They often attack in greater numbers and resemble a zombie horde while doing so. But also a handful can pose a serious threat to anyone without the Net Terminal Gene. This is because they possess a strong Exoskeleton which can't be penetrated by normal weapons.
Most of the time the Exterminators bear the Safeguard symbol on their forehead. In early chapters of the manga, their forehead are clear(probably because the author didn't formalize this symbol yet). When Silicon Life create Exterminators, their forehead is clear as well.
Along the series we are shown several methods of creating Exterminators:
- The most common method is generation by the Structure Conversion Towers. It looks like the creatures are just pop out of nowhere, but it was explained that this is a security measure that was built into the Towers.
- Transformation from a human. In Log.16 Sanakan shoot some sort of darts at Electrofishers that then transform into Exterminators.
- In the the Blame! Movie Exterminators are printed in the Factory, probably as a security measure as well.
